Raiders Simone Tournament

Jake had a blast in his first tackle football game last week. The Simone Tournament is a huge tournament that the Raider's have sponsored for almost 30 years. The Raider's dominated this year... We won 1st place in all age groups... 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7/8th. Here are a few pics... :)
Jack, Jake, and Nate... After the big 1st place Championship win... :)

My boy... Geez, I just love that kid! (And, his sweet sis too! :) )

Jake running with the ball... The Championship game... :) He's the A Back (Running back)... I'm just learning it all! I still forget which position he plays on defense... I know he tackles! :) Ha!

Nate and Jake on the sidelines... I'd love to know what they were talking about.

Jake walking off the field... I hope he was thinking happy thoughts! I hope he was feeling good about how he played. :)

Take it to the house, Jake! :)

This was Wingman Night... The Raider's pair up the younger players with an older player and they are "buddies... Wingmen" all year... Such a great organization. :) They were all getting ready to run up "Raider Hill"... The flag team (1st and 2nd graders) and all 3 tackle teams. Go Raiders!!!

My tribute to Tuck...

Wow... Where do I begin to write about the greatest dog that ever graced this Earth?... :) I'm sure I'm not the only one who would say this about their beloved pet... However, this is my blog so I get to say it! :) Awww... Tucker... I'm so sad (as are Paul, Jake, Tay, and Bay)...

Wow, 10 and a half years ago I researched and researched dog after dog... breed after breed... Paul and I were engaged to be married in a few months and I wanted a puppy dog! At that time, Paul didn't realize that he wanted a puppy dog! :) I knew we wanted to have a family so that meant I needed to find the best breed of dog for kids. I narrowed down my search to two breeds... which are now my very favorite breeds... a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel ( which we have Bailey who is 2 years old) and a Golden Retriever. After Paul realized he wanted a dog (insert smile here... :) ) he agreed to a Golden Retriever... Nope, he definately didn't want a small yappy dog he lovingly said. (insert another smile :) ha ) Well, after researching breeder after breeder (yes, I love to research... still do it with everything all the time!) we finally found a great one who was in Kansas. As soon as we returned from our honeymoon in June 1999 we went to LOOK at the puppies.... Needless to say it was Paul who decided we should go ahead and get one... It was easy to choose our dog as Tucker definately stood out above the rest...

What do I remember about Tuck...
*I remember reading a book about how to make your puppy into the best family dog for kids... It said to hold them in the air and stare at them until they quit wiggling and looked away from you... This meant they were "submissive" to you. I laugh now because I worried because Tuck never quit wiggling and he stared right at me! :) But, wow was he submissive... He was the greatest dog ever! Not a mean bone in his big body. And I remember Paul banging a spoon and pot while he ate and bothering him while he ate so that he would be used to kids disturbing his eating... I guess it all worked because Tucker never snapped at anyone... Even if you grabbed food right out of this mouth. Sweet gentle Tuck...

There are so many stories over the 10 years that I could write about... :) However, it's time to get the kids from school so I will end by saying that Tucker taught me so much about life... Sounds quirky, but it's true... He loved us no matter what... even when we didn't have alot of time to sit and pet him... He was always right there when we were ready... He followed us everywhere!!! Even at home... He followed us to tuck the kids in upstairs, he followed us downstairs to watch a movie, and he always waited for me to go to bed... If I was in the office on the computer until midnight then he waited for me to go into the bedroom to go to bed. He watched Paul mow the lawn... He traveled everywhere with us and would stand by the door waiting for us to take him when he saw the suitcase. He LOVED hanging out with us at the condo... There aren't many dogs that you can let out of your second floor condo to go to the bathroom and they will come right back into the condo without being on a lease or hardly even supervised. I will never forget him hanging out with our family at the cabin... Just two weeks ago he was running after the kids as Jake drove his dirtbike and Tay drove the Mule... Exactly one week before he went to Heaven he was hanging out with Paul and I (and Bay) at the cabin... And we are sooooo happy that we brought Bailey into our lives 2 years ago as those two years of living with Bailey brought Tuck so much joy! Tuck was like a puppy again... They were best buddies... Bay misses Tuck so much... I know Bailey misses jumping around and playing with sweet Tuck. I know Paul misses having Tuck hang out with him while he worked in the yard and grilled out. We all miss him following us everywhere... We miss him laying at the edge of the driveway while we talked in the middle circle... We miss him trying to sneak out into the yard to go potty, instead of in the mulch :)... We miss hooking Bailey's lease to Tuck at the cabin so Tucker could take her outside to go potty. We miss having to move the rugs everywhere he went so his feet wouldn't slip on the hardwood floors... We all miss him laying under the table while we ate... Or standing by the kids while they ate at the kitchen island... Tucker, Tucker, Tucker, I could on and on about sweet Tuck...

Even as he passed away he chose the best time for us... The one day when Paul was home after having been gone for a few days and then Paul having to leave for a few more days... He chose the day Paul was home... And to allow Paul and I to find him instead of the kids... Thank you Tuck!

We love you buddy! We know you are dancing around in Heaven without any hip problems!!! God bless you. And we praise God for not having you suffer... We are overjoyed that you didn't suffer, but that you were able to live happily and travel with us till the end...although you left us too soon... We know you lived 10 years and 4 months of pure happiness...

Rest in Peace Tuck! We love you!

Here are just a few of the many many pics we have of Tucker...

Tucker's 10 year birthday celebration... Tay and Jake planned and prepared it... Tucker with Jake as a newborn... Love at first site!Jake relaxing with his buddies... Only Tuck knew we took this pic... :) Best best buddies... Tuck and Bay... Tucker had so much fun playing with Bailey over the last two years... They cuddled, they played tug of war, they rested, they took turns eating and drinking out of their bowls...

First day of school!

Okay, like all good moms, I'm posting a back to school pic of my sweet adorable kids... :)
Jake is definitely a big third grader now! Jake has one of his best friends in his class! Yeah!
We thought we were going to have tears from Tay on the first day of school.... Nope all excited smiles! Tay has one of her best girlfriends in her class too! Yeah!
Jake decided to wear his Raider's practice jersey to the second day of school... He is such a terrific big brother (When he's not knocking Taylor to the ground!)... Tay saved her "back to school tears" for the second day of school. Big bro walked her to her classroom this morning... So sweet to see Jake's arm around Tay going into school. Thanks Jake!

An incredible weekend...

We have had a wonderful weekend! And it's been at home... It's not very often that we just "hang out" at home and it's been very nice. Friday we went to Zona Rosa and sat on the patio at Bravo while Tay played in the fountain. Jake's sprained thumb and the pride of an 8 year old boy didn't allow him to "play" in the fountain so he hung out with mom and dad on the patio eating calamari. Then we went to Chucky Cheeses... Paul and I were strictly doing this for the kids, however let's just say we had a blast and went back many times for more tokens. If you haven't played "Let's Make a Deal" at CC you are really missing out! Jake rocked at the basketball game of course and Taylor loved the roller coaster ride... I must admit it was very realistic and fun! We finished off Friday by renting the movie Pink Panther... Very cute.
Tay playing in the fountain at Zona... Paul and Jake on the patio at Bravo... notice Jake's thumb... ):
Mommy and Tay on the patio at Bravo...
Jake at Chucky Cheese...
Tay and I on the roller coaster ride... It rocks!
We slept in on Saturday! After a big breakfast we took Jake and Tay to the Raiders field to sign up for football and cheer leading. Wow, lots of 3rd/4th grade boys trying out for the 3rd/4th tackle team. I'll be happy when tryouts are over. :) No tryouts for cheer leading! Yeah! :) Then we went to lunch and home to work on landscaping and laundry. Finished off the evening by going to Church...

Speaking of Church... I can't tell you how much I treasure going to church. God is a huge part of our family... And church is just one way we get to experience Him. I'm so happy that we have brought our kids up by going to church every Sunday (or Saturday... :) ) and by having God be such a focal point of our daily lives. I heard Jake tell his uncle a week or so ago that he had three best friends... his mom, dad, and God... Now that was wonderful to hear... :) The most important thing for me is that someday we are all in Heaven together. And I know the only way that is possible is to have a close intimate relationship with Jesus. Life on earth is so short and I plan on enjoying every minute of it! But, it's short... What lies after our life here on earth is far more important... :)

Speaking of our great weekend... My wonderful husband and sweet son just arrived home from Target.... The boys let Tay and I sleep in while they went to the store... Yeah, a latte surprise... Thanks honey! I love you!

We had even more fun today... :) We had our "Alex's Lemonade Stand"... We were raising money for childhood cancer... What a wonderful cause! Alex is a sweet little girl that passed away at the age of 8 in 2004... Before she passed away she helped to raise over 1 million dollars thru her lemonade stands and the many many lemonade stands that were inspired by her. Thanks to everyone who came by and purchased lemonade and chips! And also to those who just donated to our great cause!!!
Awesome job running the lemonade stand...Taylor, Maddie, Jake, and Cameron! Tay putting a tattoo on Cameron's leg... We all sported the Alex's Lemonade Stand tattoos today! :) The next two pics are of Drake, Jake, and Cameron... Then Tay sporting her Alex's Lemonade Stand bandannas... Finished up with Paul and I... We were the supervisor's!

Finished off the weekend by sitting on the back patio eating a wonderful steak dinner and roasting s'mores over the fire pit. :)

Sweet sweet Bay Bay... :)

Lisa's baby shower...

Lynn and I had a surprise baby shower for Lisa last night... We had a blast and she was "kind of" surprised. :) We are so excited to meet the new little guy... :)

A night at the Royal's game...

We had a blast the other night at the Royal's game. After we went to our last swim meet we decided to go to the Royal's game. We are so lucky that Nana and Papa have great Royal's tickets. Thanks Nana and Papa!
Papa, Nana, Jake, and Tay...
Jake and Tay on our way out... Tay posed them! Pretty good! :)

Dad's birthday celebration

Wow, I can't say enough wonderful things about my sweet Dad! We had mom and dad and Brandon's family over to celebrate his birthday last week and we had a wonderful time. Family is most important to my dad so I'm sure it was special to him. :)
Papa John with his boys...
Papa John with his girls...
Papa John with all his troop... The kids helped him quite a bit with blowing out the candles... We actually re lit one for Jackson to blow out on his own...

Finished off with a great Sunday at the cabin...

We decided to have one last fun day at the cabin on Sunday before going home... Nana, Papa John, Papa Larry, and Grandma Ruth all came to hang out with us... Once again, we had an incredible time!

I feel so incredibly blessed to have all of our wonderful family and friends. I can't believe how many wonderful friends God has placed in our lives...
Nana, Papa John, Tay, Jake, Grandma Ruth, Papa Larry, and Paul roasting marshmallows. You can send the "barn" behind them...
Jake riding his dirt bike... Yes, that's a chest protector you see!
Papa John and Tay standing outside the cabin... Yeah for the new paint job! :)
Tay wearing Nana's hat and sipping her root beer...
Yeah, the fireplace is done! Great work on designing Paul... We always love your "vision"... You rock!!! :) In more ways then one... :) Papa John and Tuck entering...
Paul and Tay on Paul's dirt bike... Tay told Paul, "I could do this all day!"

Saturday... The fun continues...

Saturday was a fun filled day as well! Our friends Amy and Ashlyn (Jeff was in a golf tournament) came to stay with us Saturday. We are so happy they came! Taylor and Ashlyn were in the same class last year and became good buddies. Her mom Amy and I have become good friends too...

Our friends the Gordan's also have a cabin (a couple miles from our cabin) and this weekend was their 10 year anniversary to have their cabin. We celebrated at their place by having a huge party! Mark's (Paul's brother) band "Longshot" even came to play. What a wonderful time!

Jake lighting a smoke bomb for "good effect" for the band.
Tay dancing on the stage with Abbey and Hannah... They did awesome and had a blast! Sometime during the dance Tay's flip flop flew off into the cornfield... never to be seen again! :)
Amy and Ashlyn...
Paul and I.... awww... Not sure what's going on with my hair on the right side! :)
Caylee, Michelle, and I...
My sweet sweet sister-in-law Denise... Denise, the young girls were jealous that you were married to the drummer... :) Lucky you!
The boys... Paul, Mike, and Kev... I love these guys! :) What great guys they are!!!
Ashlyn, Tay, and Abbey...
My awesome brother-in-law Mark... the drummer!
You rock... longshot... They did a fabulous job and everyone loved them!
